Job Summary
Individuals in this position care for people with disabilities in their own homes by performing the duties listed below.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include the items listed below. Other duties may be assigned in the sole discretion of the Company.

Eighty percent of the duties in this position will be focused on the following:
1. Assisting the client with dressing, bathing, and grooming.
2. Assisting the client into and out of bed, automobile, or wheelchair, to bathroom, and up and down stairs.
3. Assisting the client with eating.
4. Supervising the client outside the home, serving as a guide, companion, and aide.

Twenty-percent of the duties in this position will be focused on the following:
1. Changing bed linens, washing and ironing the client's laundry, and cleaning the client's quarters as needed.
2. Assisting with grocery shopping and preparing meals.
3. Applying preparations and treatments, such as liniment or alcohol rubs.
4. Monitoring prescribed oral medications under the written direction of physician or as directed by home care nurse.
5. Performing a variety of miscellaneous duties as requested, such as obtaining household supplies and running errands.
6. Maintaining records of services performed and of apparent condition of client.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential
duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.

1. Education and/or Experience: At least a high school education, or up to one month related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
3. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
4. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

In performing the essential functions of this position, individuals in this position will regularly be required to use their hands to finger, handle, or feel; to reach with their hands and arms; to speak and/or listen and to taste and/or smell. Individuals in this position frequently will be required to stand, walk, and sit. Individuals in this position occasionally will be required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Individuals in this position must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is generally quiet.

In Home Support Services
(IHSS), a county agency that assists clients with household chores and daily living skills. IHSS is a separate source of income for personal care attendants at C4C which is paid separately from payments made by C4C. It is the responsibility of staff who are assigned IHSS hours to complete the IHSS timecard correctly, attach a copy of the timecard to their C4C time sheet, and mail the original to IHSS. The original must be signed by the client. IHSS pay periods are the same as C4C pay periods, and IHSS has 10 working days to issue paychecks after receipt of time cards. A separate W4 and payroll deduction forms for IHSS must be submitted to the county in which the personal attendant is performing services.
